This is the eBook for you if, like me, you want all of the free book links in one place, with hot links to the sites (on the Kindle, hot links are not in blue (duh!), but rather underlined), and some explanation about what each free book site provides and the formats it provides them in. The author does a fabulous job of walking the novice through the free book domain (concept, formats, etc.) and then listing, again, with contextual details, each link.
If you prefer to find each site, download it, and bookmark it yourself, this book may not be for you. But as someone who is still struggling to master all of the Kindle 2’s capabilities, I felt this book saved me considerable time and effort. And the author has indicated he will continue to update it.
I should caution both people who buy this useful book as well as those who don’t that some of the free books sites are not the easiest to search on and use, at least for a non-computer geek. This, of course, is not the fault of the author, who does a good job of explaining what is involved. Each website is different and some are easier than others to download from. I found it easier to use my computer to identify the books I want, then use the Kindle to download the books you have identified for download.
Amazon seems to be the easiest to use, and you can download from your computer directly to the Kindle without wires, but then maybe it is just that I am spoiled by Amazon.
To conclude, this book is an excellent time and effort-saver. Definitely worth 2 bucks and change. 5 stars!
As the original reviewer mentioned, this info is available many places on the web and in the forums here on Amazon. I went ahead and purchased this for two reasons though and feel it was well worth the relatively small cost.
First of all the author is extremely helpful with making posts on the Kindle forums here on Amazon and providing site addresses and info about free books. So my buying this is partly as a thank you to him for taking his time in being so helpful and free with good information, especially for us new Kindle owners.
Second of all I had started making notes of the site addresses and other stuff for later use. (My new Kindle 2 already has several books lined up for me to read so I’m not nearly to the point of investigating all the free book world has to offer me yet!) But finally I decided screw it, I’d rather have all the info in one easy to access location, and what better location than right on my Kindle! It was worth it to me to pay the cost for that convenience and additional ease of use.
I have spent the last five hours wandering around Amazon and tripped over a post in a Discussion.
I’m greatful for the time and effort spent by Bufo for the benefit of newbies like me that have to learn everything the hard way!
And contrary to another reviewer, the price is fine with me since now I know how to download again for free to get the updates!
